THIS moment.

9.26.2007

Lately I've been thinking a lot about this crazy thing we call "life". I bet you're thinking, "Well, who doesn't think about life?", but what I mean is I've been thinking about the way I live my life in terms of where my focus lies. It seems as though I spend a great deal of my time either being nostaligic or panicking about what the future holds. Rarely am I content in today. In THIS moment. It's really, really sad. I mean, don't get me wrong. It's wonderful to reflect on treasured memories, events in your life that brought you to the place you're at now. And it's totally okay to think ahead and wonder where you'll be in five years...how many kids you'll have...what you'll be doing. But if that's ALL we're doing, we're missing out. We need to be HERE NOW. We need to realize this very second, this very minute, because we'll never get it back. We need to breathe deep and suck out all of the marrow of life (thank you Thoreau). So true, so very true. Because if we're not living in the moment, then we're almost not living at all.
